    Workation and bleisure check

What is decided in your organisation today, and on what basis

The requests arrive one at a time. One colleague adds four days of holiday to a business trip, another wants to work from Spain for two weeks. Each time the decision is made afresh, and usually by the line manager alone. That holds as long as it happens rarely.

    Why the overview is missing

Two topics, two responsibilities. Bleisure sits with travel management, workation with HR. Where both share a single line in the travel policy, neither has a basis.

On top of that, extension days are not recorded anywhere. Nobody can see in the expense report whether three private days were added to a business trip. Anyone who does not know how often this happens cannot decide whether a policy is worthwhile. That is exactly why the check starts with the count and not with the draft.

    Who this is for

Companies in which such requests are increasing and are decided one by one. The counterparts are HR and travel management together. Responsibility lies between the two, so both belong at the table.

    What I need in advance

The travel policy, any existing rules or works agreements on mobile working, the decisions of recent months as far as they are documented, and a list of the countries your employees actually want to go to. Whatever you cannot provide is already a finding.

    How it runs

    1. Introductory call

Thirty minutes by phone, free of charge. We clarify whether the check fits your situation.

    2. Documents

You send what is available. I review it in advance and prepare the open questions.

    3. Check day

Mostly remote. Conversations with HR, travel management and two or three managers who have recently made decisions.

    4. Report

You receive it within one week.

    What you receive

    • On one page, who decides today and according to which criteria
    • Your own cases, separated into bleisure and workation, with the reasoning for each case
    • The points at which decisions are currently made without a basis, sorted by risk
    • An assessment of your destination countries, meaning where the A1 certificate, the 183-day rule and permanent establishment risk become serious
    • A recommendation on whether a policy is needed now or not yet

What the check does not deliver

It does not replace tax or legal advice in the individual case, nor a country review by your tax adviser. Nor does it yet deliver a finished policy. It tells you whether you need one and for what.

    Confidentiality of your documents

Documented individual cases contain names. Please remove them before sending, anonymised cases are sufficient for the check. Where personal data is needed, we conclude a data processing agreement beforehand. In all other respects, the confidentiality commitment for all offers applies.

    Terms

Terms for the fixed daily fee are available on request. It includes preparation and follow-up. Travel costs are charged separately.

The check tells you where you stand. The blended travel policy sets out what applies.

If the third request is on your desk right now and the answer turns out differently each time, write me a line about it.

The first step is a thirty-minute introductory call, free of charge and without obligation.
